Trees + Shrubs

Three basic tree models exported as Obj's in the Course folder under "Trees". Scale and shorten tree trunks to create more variation and convert to 'shrubs' as needed.

Imperial Hotel Interactive Walk-Through

A series of photographs lead the user through main areas of interest within the building. Each walk-through will be keyed into a 3d model to spatially connect the 2d images to the overall building volume.

San Marcos in the Desert: Interior

Rogers Lacy Hotel Storyboard

This interactive layout of the Rogers Lacy hotel allows the viewer to select and open various points of interest throughout the building. Clicking on the ground level for example, will open a three dimensional diagram of the entrance. From there the viewer can zoom into immersive views of any of the selected areas. The renderings will be activated with noise and perspective views that can be controlled by the viewer.

Baghdad University - Storyboard

An initial site outline of the University will begin to take shape as the spires and buildings emerge out of the ground, activating the scene with a diagrammatic view of traffic and pedestrian flows. Starting from an birds eye view, the scene will zoom closer to various points of interest, highlighting and interactively diagrammatically articulating its use.

Living City

Imperial Hotel Storyboard

The concept for the Imperial Hotel is a reconstructed tour through the building achieved by stitching still images together. Using photosynth software the viewer will be able to click through images guiding them through the public spaces of the hotel. The stitched stills will be supplemented with sounds of the bustling lobby and banquet hall etc. and shadowy silhouettes that will populate the images and further activate the spaces.

Itinerary showing indicated areas of interest on plan:

Mile High City - Helicopter Ride Home

Baghdad Post Office Storyboard

The camera pans and rotates slowly from left to right as parts of the Post Office build up from the ground and the trees grow in. Lines fly in from left, right, above, as if the drawing is being rendered line by line.

Camera zooms out to resolve on the drawing itself.

Hartford Play Resort

Arizona State Capitol - Storyboard Part 2

This storyboard simulates how the state capitol is transformed over the course of a day. A 24 hour lighting simulation applied to the perspective would reveal how the distinctive glass roof and spires change from a reflective prism during the day to a glowing, jeweled beacon of light at night.

Midway Gardens Board 2

This storyboard shows the use of enlargeable images to experience Midway Gardens from various viewpoints in the project. As the person/point moves around and within the floor plan, corresponding views can be zoomed in to or out of, giving a sense of the perceived space from those vantage points.

San Marcos in the Desert: Board 1

This sequence conveys the experience of moving though the local desert environment when approaching San Marcos. As the viewer comes closer to the building, the background image becomes more legible and the form more apparent.

Arizona State Capitol - Storyboard Part 1

This storyboard shows a linear fly-through of the building, approaching it at a distance, then stopping at the veranda where people, clouds, trees and water will be animated to give the viewer a closer spatial experience. The camera will then elevate and rotate around the building, stopping at the aerial perspective. The transition to night time then takes place to show the glow emitted by the building's interior.

Baghdad University - Automobile Tour

This storyboard describes the perspective of an automobile driver ascending the ramp which gives access to the university's faculty buildings. Starting at the entrance arch the animation will bring the viewer around the campus in a full circle, highlighting and labeling the specific faculty buildings as they are passed by.

Midway Gardens Board 1

This storyboard shows the character of Midway Gardens as you move through along its longitudinal axis. The idea is that the user will be able to move the main figure back and forth along the path of the section. When the figure enters a new space, different layers of the animation will help describe the character of that space.

Rogers Lacy Hotel - Storyboard

This storyboard shows an interactive method of describing the Rogers Lacy Hotel in a non-linear format. The overall building will be modeled and sliced at the building section. On the building section, there will be graphic indicators showing where the visitor can navigate to; the floor plans will be drawn in axonometric to show the spaces on the floors, while the perspectives (one at the courtyard garden and another at a typical room) will be animated using cameras that slowly move into the space.
