Aerator comments: Q: Color match all scenes A: Done
Q: Blur motion on helicopter blades A: Done
Q: Still water second scene
A: Done Q:Transitions between scenes
A: Smoother now
Q: Helicopter: why do we have one scene with that circle shape and one filling it out? Scenes are too similar so should be spread out over animation: right after each other these don’t work.
A: Circle shape = window - should be clearer now. Will look into when putting videos together Q: Helicopter (second scene online): is taking too long, river should flow better, the helicopter is hovering for too long before it lands
A: River no longer moving. Helicopter lands faster.
Overall video comments: Q: Unclear how scenes are related: map, helicopters, automobile farm, house A: We are compiling all three videos on thursday. Q: We should end with general helicopter shot similar to beginning A: We are compiling all three videos on thursday.
Changes requested: * colors: blue sky to be added in all shots. done. sky was colorized to be blue. * roof deck should be covered with vines. done. vines were added to the trellis. * fade in and out of a few Wright drawings. done. drawings were mixed in with the 3d animation. * make people more visible or colorful. done, people were made more colorful and increased in opacity. * glass more translucent. done, glass was made clearer and more saturated.
The items in red are items that I have five per your feedback from the submission last week. I will upload the video in the morning.
Rogers Lacy:
- camera movement smoother
Working on this in After effects, currently trying to pace the video. After effects runs slow as the file is getting larger so I cant get an accurate realtime simulation of the final product.
- transition between scenes smoother
- scene where building up floors and then wrapping the building: can this please briefly transition into the colors of the drawing? That would make the animation a bit more coherent. Perhaps a little splash of background color everywhere? It feels a little too dark now in comparison to drawings
I re rendered an image of the exterior which will transition between the exploded floor plate and the exterior diagram
- scene with elevator going up: too slow: please edit
I fixed this scene to run quicker and smoothed out some of the transition in After effects.
- scene where you are going into atrium needs to be smoother
- atrium two (coming from drawing): can you please fade in and out the drawing over your model shot? Or even have them blend together? That atrium needs a little more color/light, and more plants
I eliminated the jittery portion between scenes and added foliage.
- last scenes with model shots with red floor plate: can you please get rid of that fierce red line and just add a palette of colors of the drawing to it?
Baghdad Opera House comments •transitions between drawings should be smoother. •Second drawing too slow? And zoom in more and then go to your animations •Take out blank moments between scenes •Cars and people should get a little hint of color – looks too flat now •Building is too pale: should be more orangy/yellow
addressed
•Trees in the center spaces missing: this can just be cut and paste from the drawings into the animation (will also help to give it some texture)
I added some grain to the scene to give it more texture. but there isn't enough time to add trees, make trees look good, and blend with drawn look style. And would have to rerender the entire scene in HD.
•1.20 can we get drawing move in earlier?
Tried before didn’t look good (tried other other variations as well, I picked the best one)
•Between 0.35 and 0.42: put the waterfall here. •Go from garden to opera house
This does not follow the flow of the camera motion to try and make it a cohesive piece - which is done by having the same camera moving from the drawing and then into the 3d model and that part of the animation, etc (and not simply cutting from the drawing to the 3d animation, cutting back to drawing, etc…)
•We need some skies: a nice blue
Blue skies will not work with the concept of this animation, which transitions between drawings and 3d animation. For example: the skies would not work with transition into section drawing, since skies would also require a context, ground, etc, which then would be difficult to transition to the section drawing – which needs a more abstract, isolated look at the building (I tried putting skies before, and it didn’t look good). The masterplan university animation will give a sense of the context. This is a more focused look at the building.
•Color: replace section drawing from Oskar with color that mina has given: then there is some more vibrant color
I adjusted the saturation of the drawing in ‘aftereffects’ – this will bring out the yellow and green in the drawings. In addition I don’t have this drawing from Mina. She only gave me drawing perspective 5733 .007 (plus that would mean rerendering the entire sequence in HD. No time for that…)
•1.10 the arch is missing the perforations still
Don’t have enough information to build that part, so went with the overall massing of the arch instead , tried a version and looked very awkward with the holes (especially since there isn’t information on what would go inside the holes), (There isn’t enough information to figure out how a section through that arch looks like so I couldn’t build it)
•Minaret: can also be taken straight from drawing: now it doesn’t look good
By Minaret do you mean the “sword of Mahommet” (the spire like thing in front of the opera entrance)? The information for that was already taken from the drawing – check elevation 5733.032 (which is the most detailed drawing of it)
•1.16: water color should be changed to similar in water from drawing •Cut from 2.15 onwards, and pan back into opera house and then garden instead : can be same material as opening scenes just reverse/different order
This would be a different animation, and we dont have enough time to do it. – and bring up other issues for further changes. This part has been set for a while. From last meeting only suggestion was to fix the ending which I did.
Mile High Getting very nice! - DVD needs to be resent: is not working: what format do you need?
- DONE: Perhaps cut a few of the reference towers: the point is made with less towers and the scene is too long
- DONE: scene around 1.45 is a little long: can this be adapted?
- DONE: Around 2.23 this scene can start a little quicker: it is standing still now for too long
- DID NOT CHANGE, I tried putting a texture on, but it looks like he is ice skating: Interior scene: I don’t read the person as a person: can you give him a little more texture or so?
- SHORTENED SLIGHTLY: Elevator scene: little shorter?
- DONE: Getting out of elevator? Can you somehow photoshop an office interior in and blur this out? So that you get the feeling of something happening there, but not making it too clear what?
- DONE, most scenes fade into each other rather than black:Transition between scenes needs to be little smoother
There are some touchups (fixing elevation comparison labels) that are not reflected in the video above.
Q: We need some background color to the sky: it is now a little too pale A: Added sky with sun and clouds Q: Building would be colored green etc as in drawings as we discussed before. A: Green color expressed at opening 0:16 - 1:25 and top pan 1:28 - 1:40. The green color is kept subtle to make the building actually stand out from the colorful background. Q: Fade in and out some drawings in between your scenes. A: I'm not sure if this will benefit the animation, as the aesthetics are substantially different. Q: Fountain doesn’t really read like fountain yet? Can some work be done on this? A: Rendered fountains on a separate layer and added blur effect to make more realistic. Will continue to touch up on this. Q: Can we have some more people in interior? A: Addressed. Q: 0.30: sweeping around the building: perhaps a little slower? A: Addressed. Q: Around 0.58: this is too slow and it feels like the end – perhaps edit a little? A: Addressed. Q: Around 1.10: this feels a little too fast A: The whole animation has been made slower in general, but this part can be further slowed down if preferred. Q: In the middle can we have a little more time under the canopy A: Made interior shots slower - additional shots not possible under time frame allocated. Q: Can we put in the decorative elements under the arches A: This would require the entire animation to be re-rendered, which is again not possible for the given time frame. Q: Can we get the night shot back at the end A: Addressed at the sunset sequence at the end, but will work to make the transition from day to night smoother.
I tried to incorporate all the comments that were given. I've kept the black background though because using a grey background will wash out the images and they'll be too difficult to see.
Changes to Be Made: * colors: blue sky to be added in all shots * roof deck should be covered with vines * fade in and out of a few Wright drawings * make people more visible or colorful * glass more translucent
DONE: Color of water too saturated, tone down a little (just the water)
IN PROGRESS: water around opera house in 0.15 is too distracting
DONE: height spires should be different
WILL CONSIDER; the movie will play on a loop, so it doesn't really matter what is "first," just the relative order: order of scenes should be: first boulevard, then monument and then to the university and end with university (not back to island)
IN PROGRESS: ship should be sailing boat not war ship: could it move? Also please no shadow under boat: it looks cartoony
MAYBE; we were thinking of putting labels on the different faculties as we fly by (we didn't have time before to do all of it, let us know if we should do the labels: Archive-mention can go out
MAYBE, we wanted it to look like a fly-over, not just another image pan: Fix distortion of opera house/island drawing
IN PROGRESS: Please animate the water a bit more subtle and realistic
So I am currently working on adding people to the seats in the final scene of the animation - that will be the next addition i will make to the video. stay tunned..
Refined building model with more delicate vines with flowers - similar to the drawings, a more orange building, more transparent glass and an open interior. Based on client feedback on April 2nd. More people to be added.
